The MP5

MP5SD3

Heckler and Koch, encouraged by the G3 rifle and its success decided to make a family of firearms with four different types of guns. All of which used the G3’s layout and were similar in function. The MP5 came in the last group of weapons. The MP5 was first worked on in 1964 and two years after that it was used by the German Federal Police for border guards and special forces. The MP5A1 was introduced in the late 1960’s and was the first model of the MP5 to have what would become its iconic sights. In 1974 the MP5SD was introduced and was a suppressed versions of the MP5. The MP5SD was used in Vietnam by the Green Berets. In 1980 the Iranian Embassy in Britain was taken over by terrorist. The terrorists had several hostages and were making demands that the UK government didn’t want to give into or couldn’t. They finally had the SAS go in and take the Embassy. It was during the storming of the Embassy that the MP5 became seen as what it is today. Live on television the SAS rescued the hostages and killed 5 of the terrorists. The SMG was used by American SWAT teams after that but was mostly replaced by AR-15 like rifles after the late 1990’s North Hollywood shootout.

  1. Love to run the MP5 in MW often. Awesome job dude, just the parts at “Iranian Embassy in Britain was taken over by terrorist.” and ” Live on television the SAS rescued the hostages and killed 5 of the terrorist.” I believe you meant to put and “s” after “terrorist” if there were multiple targets.
